Arson, Dixie Fire, Smoke and Buddy Checks.

They are almost a year out, to install whole-house air purifiers. We\’re still checking around and it looks like we would probably get this next year.

Meanwhile, I have 2 portable ones and I ordered new filters – and I ordered another portable one for the living room. I noticed last night I could smell smoke in the living/dining/kitchen area probably because of the vaulted ceilings and the front door and sliding glass door has a little gap.

It\’s strange how the mind works – I look outside and it looks like Fall. Then I go out and it\’s hot and smoky. Nope, that\’s not Fall. I prefer to stay inside and PRETEND it\’s a cozy Autumn day. They are saying the fires won\’t be out till winter!

The Dixie Fire has entered Lassen Volcanic National Park. To the west of us, Weaverville, the small town I just wrote about is being evacuated. There are so many fires within this area that I cannot even remember where they are at.

 POS

I\’ve mentioned many times, that many of our fires have been human-caused.  It could be a lawnmower,  a campfire, a weed-eater, and even a golf club striking a rock that sparked a fire here last week.  The Carr fire back in 2018 was started by a dragging chain from a tow hitch. Then we have the arsonists.  A California Criminal Justice professor at Sonoma State set off fires within the Dixie fire and almost trapped firefighters. Thankfully they arrested him. He is also suspected of starting fires in Shasta and Trinity counties.

I read where our hospitals are filling up – not due to covid but to respiratory breathing issues related to the bad air quality, which is not good with the new delta covid starting to rear its ugly head in these parts. Many are young children. I saw yesterday, a bunch of kids out playing, no n-95 to protect them from the bad AQI – I wondered where are their parents? I\’m surprised the school is still open. The Whiskeytown visitor center has shut down due to the smoke – and some local government buildings have closed to the smoke. Our Shasta County supervisor\’s meeting was canceled due to the bad air quality. Then why won\’t the schools shut down?

And finally, please say a prayer for our veterans. I know a child I once knew who committed suicide once he got out of Afghanistan back in 2011. My heart breaks for his family. My husband\’s friend, R, was in Afghanistan, early on –  and he is having some issues now.  We also have a good friend who has severe PTSD from Vietnam. His wife called and asked us to pray for him. He\’s not talking and just stares. It\’s a scary time for the veterans themselves as well as their families. Fortunately, the two men,  I mentioned will seek out services. We haven\’t gone down to the VFW yet – I don\’t know if I want to.

So If you know a veteran, who might be having a problem, please reach out – and also to the spouse or family member as well.

Concerning the arsonists: we really should bring back public executions. Shame on them for doing this evil thing.Yes, please pray for our military, police, medical personnel, etc. They are on the front lines every day and have a lot of stress to deal with. The devil is on the prowl and our Country is in such a pickle. I try to always pray about that too, as I'm sure y'all do too.Y'all be safe. I wish the HVAC guy could get to you sooner.Blessings. xx

The first thing I noticed when I began to wear a mask in March 2020 was the relief of my allergies. I would think parents would encourage their kids to wear a mask to deal with the smoke. In Atlanta, when they have code orange days due to air pollution, there are always someone to find out they have a serious undiagnosed lung problem by falling out when leaving a building.Arsonists are supposed to be very cowardly. Yep, what jerks.

All those fires are so sad, and even sadder – and madder are the ones that are set by arsonist. I will never understand that.Afghanistan. Another thing I just don't understand. Our son served there as well.
