On Hold

We have 2 Care Credit Cards – one we use exclusively at the Veterinarian and the other for our teeth. I pay them off within a month or so. They usually are no interest for 6 mos. Last month I paid $1300 to the WRONG Care account. I can\’t believe I did that! I\’m usually pretty sharp on things like that. So I have a $1300 credit on the vet account. I don\’t want a credit on the vet account –

So while I am here, I am also on hold with the Care Credit people – hoping to get this cleared up. Maybe I should just close one account and combine the two. So far I have been on hold for 15 minutes. It said it could be over 30 minutes.

I\’ve done some dumb things before but this is a first. In most places, if they see a credit of that amount, they automatically send you a check. I sure hope so. It would take a while to run up that in vet bills since I also have pet insurance. Anyway, I still have an outstanding balance on my teeth cleaning, that needs to be paid.

When I wait this long on hold, I think they\’ll never answer. That I am just wasting my time…I have the phone on speaker and I keep hearing the same message over and over and over and over again.

Okay, we\’re good to go. They will send me a check. Whew!

The husband was mistaken about when he goes in for the Coast Guard birthday at the Veterans Home. He\’ll go in on Wednesday.  This will be good for him to speak about his time.   He spent 10 years in the Navy – his last ship was on the USS Constellation. He jumped ship – to the Coast Guard, hoping it would be less stressful.  He was working toward his military pension. Those years he spent on some scientific Arctic and Antarctica deployments on Icebreakers and Cutters and kept him in the Pacific Northwest closer to family.

Some of his deployments were to monitoring the maritime boundary south of the Bering Strait. Their main goal was to provide “an overt presence, monitoring the Russian fishing fleet, making sure there is no illegal fishing going on in U.S. waters. He said the waters are rough – 15 feet seas – The North Pacific, Bering Sea, and the Gulf of Alaska are treacherous. There\’s a lot of seasickness with the constant rolling and bouncing and the back and forth. Then it was south to Antarctica to cut shipping channels into the ice to deliver supplies to the McMurdo Sound Research Station.  Once when they were in the Artic they had engine troubles and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Louis S. St-Laurent had to shadow them across to Greenland and down to Boston for some repairs to get back to Seattle. They went down the eastern side and took the Panama Canal and back up to Seattle. Talk about out of the way…

He will enjoy this – not many times an old guy gets 10 minutes to talk about his adventures to a crowd of people. And he\’ll eat cake, too!

I hate that phone waiting, glad they straightened it out. I watch \”The Deadliest Catch\” all the time, that is no easy duty patrolling any of those waters!

So happy they will refund the money. I'm sure that's going to help a lot. What an exciting life your husband has had! My husband likes the ocean too. The Hudson family goes WAY back to the famous Muscovy Company that founded the Hudson Bay area around New York. So, my husband comes by it \”honest\”, as we say. I get sick as a dog on the ocean, which is a pity, 'cause I love to SCUBA dive and snorkel.Hope the camper remodel is going well? We're thinking about buying a small older motorhome (like 17' or so), gutting it, redoing to our liking, then start traveling again. I don't like staying in hotels nor eating out. Much prefer home cooked foods and my own bed. Plus, we could tow our two motorbikes for further adventures.Blessings. xx

Glad you got the CareCredit situation resolved and yes being on hold can be frustrating, but then one doesn't dare hang up and lose a place in the queue. Your husband is sure to enjoy his 10 minutes of fame relating his service time and thanks to him for his service.

Oh yeah it's so annoying when we stuff up a payment and have to ring and wait on hold as we grow old to try and fix the boo boo…….

That's cool about the motorhome remodel. You have to share photos when you start.
