Renovating the Tent Trailer has begun

The tent has been ordered – they told us 18-20 weeks. Meanwhile, there is dry rot on the roof and probably all over. It doesn\’t look like it will be that hard to do – just takes time.  You can see how bad the roof is.

A previous owner patched it by using roofing tar. Not easy to get that off. The liner that is puckering is easy to get off and under that is the wood that needs to be replaced.

They don\’t make these anymore.  I want to do a complete redo – the decals are dry and brittle but the husband wants to keep them. I do not. I\’ll probably win (maybe)

That\’s way down the line…

We popped it up just a little – It does look like it is going to be a BIG job.

Can we do this?

I believe we can. There are plenty of videos and websites showing others who have completed restored their tent trailers.  Of course, we will try to save what we can to lower our costs. The replacement wood will be an expense. The roof has to be done before the tent comes. We can work on the subfloor after December if we are up against the clock.

I\’ve ALWAYS wanted to reno a trailer. Of course, I didn\’t get a vintage trailer to restore.  That would have probably been harder but I would have gladly accepted the challenge.

Our new hobby – I\’m excited.

For a long time, I wanted to reno an old trailer. We've had towables before. I never did like the decorations or the hardware. To me they're ugly and poorly made. Unfortunately, don't have the health for it anymore. Can't wait to see what y'all do. I hope you can catalog the whole procedure and share it. So exciting. Be careful in the heat. We had 6 inches of rain from TS Elsa yesterday. Yay! All rain is welcome. Cleans the air and fills the creeks (or \”criks\”, as we say … lol).Blessings xx

The first thing I noticed was the duck decal and thought how cool is that so I would agree with your husband, but of course my vote doesn't count! lol.
