So this evening my husband, who doesn\’t really need to do this, is going off to a part-time job. He will be working security for the county courthouse that is being built from 6pm to midnight on Thursdays and Friday and from 6pm to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays. Ugh! I don\’t like the hours. We\’re usually in bed between 9:30 and 10 – sometimes as early as 9pm in the winter months and we\’re up early. He says he will do this for 1 year as we save to pay off the car.
I will miss him. We are 2 peas in a pod. Oh, I\’ll get used to it. It would be better if he was working during the day – that way I could get things done. That\’s when I need him gone. I\’ll get into a new routine I hope.
One thing he did say he wants to do, is to save up for a cruise to Alaska sometime either May of 2022 or Sept 2022. He spent over 20 years on a total of 6 ships in the Navy and Coast Guard and that is the only cruise he is interested in. Alaska is my dream place to live so why not? Let\’s do this. But paying off the car comes first!
Last night we went to the Mosquito Serenade and it was fun. What a place to \”people watch.\” Oh my. We left before it was over – the gnats were starting to bug me and no mosquitos. It was 100 degrees at 7pm last night but we were under these big trees and the Sacramento River was nearby so it was comfortable. Today we\’re supposed to be 109 and the next few days, 111 degrees with very low humidity. That\’s when we have the fire danger.
We\’ve already had at least 8 fires that are out but were human-caused. I think our area must have more pyromaniacs than any place in the country. They wait for the perfect conditions for a fire – extreme heat and low humidity. They love wind, too if that is added to the equation. One fire was from the exhaust of a vehicle. The rest were arson or illegal campfires. Char had to evacuate twice last week due to a fire in the canyon below her place of work. Every morning, I hear the heavy fire planes going overhead to nearby fires. Back and forth all day. It\’s just the way it is here and I truly wish it wasn\’t that way. The alternative is moving back to the overpriced, smoggy, crowded, concrete bay area that abounds in snooty, elitist people.
NO THANK YOU!
