Not our van, thank God!
Friday they called to pick the van up. It was 5:30 pm. We had plans at 6pm at our friend\’s home. So we made a mad dash in Navy\’s truck, to pay and pick up the van, then to Navy\’s house to drop off the truck. Navy and Sara were home, at 6pm. Wow, it all worked out as if we planned it that way. We got to our friend\’s home at 6:25.
The van runs great – the mechanic told my husband that he was impressed at how well taken care of the van was. That made my husband pleased. He does take really good care of the vehicle maintenance. Yesterday he took it in for an oil change.
Not like my first husband who would run cars into the ground. I remember being 8 months pregnant and there was a solenoid problem with the battery and I had to start the car using a screwdriver under the hood. Each month it was harder and harder to reach under the hood with my growing belly.
We were always breaking down. Stranded. Overheating. flat tires, blowouts, etc.
When the husband and I married I told him, he had to promise me he would always keep the vehicles in good working order, and we would always have a newer vehicle – – till death do us part. I was still paying on my car and he was still making payments on his when we married so we started off good.
So within the next month, we will hopefully decide on a new vehicle and I think we have resigned ourselves to the fact that we may have to put the money we saved as a down payment. Car interest rates are low – KIA is offering 0% for up to 60 months. It seems like the hybrid is the best way for us, to go. Plus there are tax incentives (that is another reason why it looks like we may finance it) We\’ll see once we get there and talk turkey.
$1000. from our city electric as a credit
$ 4168. Tax credit for the purchase of a new plug-in electric drive motor vehicle.
$833. A point-of-sale reward available to all California residents who purchase or lease an eligible new Battery Electric (BEV) or Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicle at participating retailers.
$1000-1500 for your old vehicle no matter what condition it is in. Which we won\’t take advantage of because we need our van for other heavier duty things the car won\’t be able to do. Another California incentive.
