Well, no one asked us. Apparently, Oregonians voted to secede from Oregon and they are dragging some California counties with them. I like Idaho. I have nothing against Idaho.

Of course, we know this isn\’t going to happen.

It\’s better than what some around here wanted – they called it Jefferson State. I hated it from the moment I heard the name. I don\’t want to live in the state of Jefferson.

First, they needed to come up with a more attractive name.

Second, it\’s ain\’t gonna happen!

The people from the State Of Jefferson crowd have been proposing this since WW2. This is nothing new.  When we first moved up here, we heard about it and went to a meeting to check it out. They were all getting themselves all excited about it – as if they could make this happen. The data came back that the State of Jefferson would be the poorest state in the Union. There is nothing here except mountains. They proposed to bring back the logging industry – the fishing industry that has been killed due to environmental laws, and other than that, there isn\’t much more.

I understand their frustration over the politics here (and Oregon) I am sure rural areas across the US feel the same way.

The process is huge – Heck here in California we voted to get rid of daylight savings 4-5 years ago and we\’re still waiting for the state legislature to do what they need to do to approve it.

It\’s just not going to happen.

AND did anyone ask Idaho what they wanted?

It will be interesting to see what happens next. Probably nothing, like you stated. Hope your van is still running good and you're having a blessed day! xx

Trust me Idaho does not want it, but we would have another water port.

Yes, Coos Bay in Oregon is a GEM! I believe Crater Lake and if it did ingulf my area, you'd have Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen.

I like the comment about whether Idaho was game for the expansion. That is a whole lot of territory. Jumping from one big state to create another big state. I have no comment. I don't live there.

    I agree, it won't happen.
