Look Ma, No Cavities.

Today I did something I have never done before – I went to the dentist at our local satellite campus for Cal State Chico\’s Dental Hygienist programs.   It is FREE for those who are brave enough to allow students to work on their teeth. I did see a dentist – but he just made sure the gal did everything right.  Today was just the dental check and X-rays.   I will go back for a cleaning and that is only $30. As long as your teeth are in good condition, which I knew both of ours were, this is the way to go. We lost our dental insurance when he retired. We could have paid the premium but the place the State of California contracted for dental was the worst place to go. The husband went a month ago for his and thought it was a good deal. It had been all last year we both had not seen the dentist or had a cleaning. Fortunately, no cavities, and my gums look good. We do have to find a new dentist that is not with that group.
Yesterday we received a notice from our county assessors office stating they were going to reassess our property taxes. The husband called this morning and they told him, that we inherited the house from his dad in Dec 2020. He told them we did not. We have been in this house for 13 years. So they transferred him to another person, who was not at her desk – he left a message and we\’ve been waiting for the callback. I couldn\’t wait any longer – it\’s their error – why should we have to wait. So I called them when the husband was at the dog park with Laydee. The deal is, my husband is a JUNIOR and his dad was a Senior. There have been many mix-ups in the past. One funny one, was when we received a summons for a court date in Texas – for unpaid speeding tickets. It was Pop. So I explained that and she just needed my husband\’s last 4 digits of his social security number and came back less than a minute later acknowledging the error and would let the Assessor know. So that\’s that!
Speaking of my father-in-law – the cemetery called to let us know, his official VA headstone has been installed so tomorrow we\’ll drive over to take a look.
The last couple of months, Pop has received his 2 stimulus checks – We voided them out, took a copy of the voided check, and mailed it back to where we were told. Doggone it, if we didn\’t get another notice today, saying that a stimulus check will be coming to him within the next 7 days.
I give up. We send them back – they keep sending them to us.
It\’s a good thing we are honest.

From My House – For the homemaking side of me

As soon as you do the wrong thing they will suddenly figure it out and catch you…best to be honest.

Hi Susie, Yes it's a good thing for them you are honest… Most people would spend it and maybe you should? Afterall it is your money… I don't know how long ago your father in law passed away…As for dental bills I can't even with them. I went to the dentist a few weeks ago because due to my poor health I have bad teeth. The end result is they have to all come out. The dental schools won't take me because of the health issue's and so I saw the regular dentist here.. The final bill almost blew my head up. The estimate was $8000.00…. We can't afford it so I will have to keep going back to my MD if I get an infection like I had for two months a few months ago and I don't know what else to do.. I find it really aggravating that insurance companies do not think that our eyes and teeth are part of our bodies and health….

That's terrible. I know dental bills can be very expensive.

Going to that dental hygienist program is a great idea! It's not cheap going to the dentist.I've heard of a few other people who are going through similar things with the stimulas checks. Glad you are honest too!

Your toothpaste ad brought back a memory from living in Bloomington, Indiana, for a few years. Crest was developed at the university and we met a couple of the original Crest kids. I hope they all kept their teeth. That was long ago.Love,Janie

I should have said that we met a couple of the Crest kids when they were adults.
