Windy Tuesday

Not much going on around here – windy day. The husband is replacing our bathroom vanity sink and faucet. We went to Home Depot. The husband lost his keys (for the umpteenth time) so we replaced his house key and the key to the van. Annoying. Sadly,  I\’m not much better.
The night before my Foot Doctors appointment, I organized all the paperwork and couldn\’t find my Medicare card. I summed up, that I must have lost it. I looked everywhere. So I went on to the Medicare website and made a copy and reordered a new one. Yesterday when I got there for the appointment, bright and early – they wouldn\’t accept my copy because my printer cut off part of the necessary information and they couldn\’t just take my word for it. So I sat in the waiting room, on my phone trying to access the Medicare website site, and because I don\’t use my phone for that, I had to make a new password. Long story short, it just wasn\’t working and I was getting frazzled. I finally told them I need to go home to do this – I drove home, got what I needed, feeling very silly. They were very understanding but as I went to get out my driver\’s license, I found my original medicare card – it was in my purse the whole dang time. I fessed up and we all had a good laugh on me.
There was a time when a man/woman\’s word was their word. People were known for their good word.
\”Oh that\’s Pete, he\’s good for it – he\’s given me his word.\”

\”Lily is good for it because of her word. \”
Nowadays, no one can just take someones\’ word. Your good and honest word mean nothing. At the doctor\’s office – I understand how they couldn\’t just take my word, that I have both A & B coverage because no doubt, in the past they took someone\’s word and the person either lied or didn\’t know and it came back to cost them.  Since it was my first medical appointment for 2021, they also charged me upfront the Medicare deductible of $203. I\’ve never had to do that before – although I\’ve only been on Medicare since 2019.
I didn\’t have to be concerned with ticklish feet – Oh no, the Doctor gave me a steroid shot in between my toes – both feet.
OMG, give me a knee replacement anytime!
She says I have neuropathy in my feet. I do not have diabetes – so that came as a shock to me. They ran some other tests. My feet have become very tender the last few years. I will be taking vitamin B1, B6, and B12 supplements, twice a day for a month and then taper off. I go back in 2 weeks.  Already they feel better – just a small bruise on the top of my feet.

From My House – For the homemaking side of me

The other day I lost a piece i needed to install an outside light. It just disappeared into thin air. I ranted and raved for a half hour and then Mrs. C went outside and found it on the top of my step ladder. Today I lost the cap to calk I was in the garage, put it down wiped off the tube and then the cap was gone…disappeared in thin air. I told Mrs. C from now on when I do a chore (not often) she will have to follow me around.

You're absolutely right that we can't be taken by our word anymore. I understand, but it bothers me.Love,Janie
