1. I still haven\’t heard a thing from CPS – I\’ll give them till next week. Then I might have to get snarky.
2. Pops still hasn\’t been cremated, due to covid19. Supposedly sometime this week. It\’s not like we have people dying from covid like in the big metro areas, unless, they are shipping bodies to rural crematoriums. I haven\’t heard. It\’s crazy and it\’s hard. We would like to put him to rest.
3. No cremation means no interment at the Veterans cemetery. Per his wishes he wanted his cremains to be buried. He didn\’t care for the little niches they put you in – He wanted his own headstone. I\’m thinking sometime in Jan but that could also be delayed as well.
4. The California Veterans Home has not cleared out his room yet and it is their policy to pack it all up themselves, not the family. – It is because of Covid19. Navy explained to me, it was not BS because they need 2 people in the room to verify the contents, and right now with people taking time off, they don\’t have the man/woman power.
We\’re dealing with all these government agencies and it\’s a slow go. Navy told me for Christmas, all he got from the state of California for his efforts as an essential worker – a pay cut and a big candy cane! Now that is BS. They all give lip service saying how much they all appreciate their essential workers – and that\’s it. Their pay should not be cut.
