CPS and some updates

Life continues on for the living – in the midst of Pop\’s death, I finally was able to talk with a live person, from the Child Protective Services regarding my grand-niece and nephew. This, after several messages and then going to person #2 on my list – the Case manager,  since the actual caseworker, ignored my calls. The manager apologized several times to me. So much so, I felt uncomfortable. It\’s fine, let\’s move on.
Right now, I have given the powers that be, the information they need to clear us for visitations. Normally it will take 2 weeks, but \”due to Covid\” and the holidays, it might take a month or more. I\’m just happy, that the ball is rolling. The manager also gave me the address to where the caseworker is so that I can mail letters and gifts. I got together a Christmas package for the children, along with a silly photo of the husband and me. I figure, it\’s been almost a year since I last saw them, and Aaliyah was only 2 years old. Every time I write or send something, I will take a photo.
I\’m excited about the future – with the children.

FINAL UPDATE ON SOCIAL SECURITY

It is all done – we had proof they were wrong and we only owe them $153 which they will take out of March 2021\’s check. WHAT an ordeal that could have only taken a couple of weeks but we had to go through so many channels. I\’m happy it is done. I knew it would work out – my husband was a lot more pessimistic.

So here it is – a couple of days before Christmas and we can finally take a breather and relax from the last 5 weeks. From when Nina passed away on Nov 18 to now.
We are finding it hard to \”deck the halls\” like we usually do. The tree went up right after Thanksgiving but this is the first year we have done no other decorating and we\’re fine about it. Why stress ourselves out? We\’ve been through enough. For Christmas, the adult kids are coming over for dinner – actually on the 24th. Both Sara and Foodie have to work on Christmas Day. I bought gift cards and no secret Santa this year.
I\’ll be so glad when this year is over but I am under no illusion that 2021 will be any better. It\’s just the sign of the times, I guess.

I do hope that things change in 2021, might take awhile, but change they must. God bless.

No tree here, the puppy would only tear it apart and no one is coming our way, so why bother. I am ready for a fresh new year, too.
