Rain Rain Rain

I am celebrating the rain. It\’s been dark and rainy all day. I did manage to get out early to gather my Thanksgiving turkey. It was only sprinkling then. I couldn\’t wait to get back home and get my comfy clothes on to just \”make like a couch potato\”. Although I wouldn\’t want to do this every day.
Yesterday I had to drop off something at Foodie so Laydee and I drove over. I placed the item on the sidewalk and then he came out and picked it up. We talked a little – social distancing and wearing masks. I haven\’t laid eyes on him in a while. He turns 40 on the 23rd. I plan to have just him and Char, my step-daughter over for Thanksgiving. The meal will be simple. Just the basic Thanksgiving meal. I will send some food over to Navy and his wife afterward.
I\’ve decided to do just gift cards for Christmas – not spending very much this year. Everybody totally understands. Plus, we haven\’t heard back from SSA if we are even getting paid for Dec, Jan, and part of February. To keep from taking money out of our savings, I will do as much scrimping as I can. It\’s just all part of this crummy year.

We celebrate rain, too, but not Thanksgiving.

It will just be Mom and me at Thanksgiving, that has been the norm for the past 5 years. It's tough when family is separated by many miles but it is what it is. We are thankful for all we have, especially each other. You are blessed to have your family so close! 💖
