The 1966 afternoon soap drama for teenagers. It used to come on after General Hospital at 4pm. It was about a rich family, named Collins, who lived in Collinsport, Maine.
The whole show revolved around Barnabus Collins. At least I thought it did. It\’s not scary like it was back in 1966. I was really into it. My mom watched it with me and used to comment about the bad acting.
It wasn\’t that it was bad acting, it was that it was live-tv. So when a set would fall down, or they couldn\’t remember their lines, it was noticed. They couldn\’t just cut the scene. It was there for all to see. That was one of the things I loved about it.
Did you know that the show was so popular, that Tricia Nixon invited Jonathon Frid, to dress up, fangs and all, to the White House?
Christians called it Satan\’s favorite TV show.
The show was entertaining and my mom-approved. I had trading cards and magazines sharing all the gory gossip from Collinsport and one Christmas I received Josette\’s music box.
