Back in Feb 2019, my husband and I had an upper respiratory illness that lasted about 2-3 weeks and gave us an annoying cough. He went to his doctor to get a cough medicine – I did not. His cough went away and here I am, Oct 2020 and I still have a cough. It\’s not bad like it was but it just won\’t go away. At times I feel out of breath. I cough in the morning, in the evening, when I lie down on my back – if I talk too much or if I laugh or after I eat. So this morning I decided to make an appointment to get it checked out. I go tomorrow at 9:15 am.
I\’m an old soul – I don\’t go to the doctors much – I think it is the way I was raised. Before we even went to the Doctors, Mom would do other stuff to knock out whatever we had. Obviously, none of my illnesses were serious. Her home remedies always worked and made me feel better.
I don\’t take supplements or vitamins either. My husband swears by his supplements. When I had my knee surgery I asked my surgeon/doctor if I should take these joint support supplements and he said, \”Sure if you want to waste your money.\” My regular doctor tells me to eat simple, clean, drink water, and get exercise. As I get older, I am thinking maybe I should reconsider and give them a try. I just don\’t want to spend $100\’s dollar in supplements when I could use it for healthy food instead.
I am not concerned about my cough – It\’s just annoying and I feel exhausted after a coughing jag. I think it has something to do with my GERD. I was on prescription strength omeprazole some years back and took myself off them. But I still struggle with horrible acid reflux –
I am interested in what supplements and vitamins you all take, so I can think about it.
I just want to rule out anything serious (although I highly doubt it) and just get some cough medicine or a chest x-ray or something. I am concerned if I should get the flu or worse yet, covid19, with this cough I have. I don\’t have congestion like when you have pneumonia or bronchitis but there feels to be some minor congestion. I don\’t smoke, nor have I ever. My husband doesn\’t smoke. Maybe I need to use a vaporizer at night and because I live in a dry area with low humidity, maybe a humidifier would help. I just need to get this taken care of.
