Wind is bad and we have another fire

I know, it gets old for us, too.  It\’s constant these days. No lightning, it is suspected to be arson. I say, Name them and Shame them!

KRCR – Federal agents caught an alleged serial arsonist accused of lighting fires in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. 38-year-old Eric Michael Smith of Redding is accused of setting four fires between June 23 and July 29. Smith faces a federal arson charge, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced Thursday. Smith became a suspect after his car was spotted on Gilman Road shortly before the first fire was lit on June 23. Federal Agents then put a tracking device on his car and started trailing him as he drove through rural areas of the Northstate. Smith\’s car was traced to the areas that the subsequent fires were lit, according to court documents. Officials say that Smith also left several campfires unattended.

Smith is currently out on bond. If convicted, he faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Cottonwood, a small town just south of us on the border of Shasta and Tehama, currently has a rapidly moving fire heading south to Tehama county. We have to put up with this wind and fire as well as the scare of another till Tuesday.
I really hate this – I don\’t sleep well. Even my cat and dog are rattled by the wind. I guess the only good thing I can find to say is, our temps the last couple of days were in the 70\’s. But heck, who can go outside and sit or do anything with this freaking wind?
