Before the Purple rush

Last night we met up with Navy and his wife at an outdoor restaurant for dinner. Thursday we\’re going into the Purple Tier – the most restrictive tier, due to Covid19. From all that I read, it shouldn\’t be that restrictive like back in March through May – or maybe I am just used to it. Already, some department stores were standing outside, limiting the number of people entering. I\’m okay with that. It will once again hurt the small restaurants that do not have outside dining. The city is trying to allow them to use parking lots but they have to pay for permits in order to do this. Too much regulation for something so simple.

Navy works at the Cal Veterans Home and had to sign a legal and binding agreement to not have people in their home. If he breaks the agreement, he would be fired and quite possibly be fined and jailed. This from the State of California. I do understand it – I don\’t like it, but my FIL lives where my son works, so if it protects all of them there, then it just has to be. We decided we would meet outside for picnics etc (weather permitting) and no hugs and kisses. I won\’t do \”elbow bumps\” which I think is so dumb.

In the next 10 days, our weather looks like, the beginning of Fall. Temps in the 70\’s and 80\’s with cool evenings and crisp mornings. A big WIND EVENT tomorrow apparently.

Does your weather people call wind, \”wind events?\” I noticed that is what they are calling them now. No more breezy, windy days, just events.

We were supposed to get out again – take the day off but husband had to go down to the DMV to get his Real ID which he has been putting off and his birthday is Dec 2. They won\’t take appointments. Which I think is dumb – to me appointments make it safer, rather than standing in a long line (socially distanced of course) I don\’t know, that makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Our Congressman\’s office got back to us, saying that the SSA needs a breakdown of what was actually paid in what years – not just the hours. I would have done it right the first time (Sorry Honey) so now, we have to contact our State Rep to get on CalPers because Cal Pers doesn\’t want to break it down…you know, due to Covid19 and all.

Crazy crazy crazy – This could have been all worked out and settled had we been able to go in and talk to a person. We have to go through 3rd parties in order to get this settled. I am just beyond pissed over the whole thing. I still am sure it will all work out; at the very least we\’ll pay just a little but it\’s all overkill. The SSA here is protected by the glass partisans – and each agent has its own cubby that is already socially distanced. I feel sorry for the elderly that perhaps didn\’t know they could go to their congressperson or a state rep. You know, some people fell through the crack.

So I guess there will be no Halloween – and there will be no Thanksgiving this year with the family.

Not for the whole state – this is for the employees that work at California Veteran Homes. Keeping the residents safe; like my FIL who lives there.

I lived in SO. Cal when I was 5-8 yo. We went to Catalina Island often, had a view from our home of Mt Baldy. It was beautiful, the weather, the smog (ok the smog not so much) but in general what a beautiful state. A few year ago I visited my son who lives in an Apt in Santa Monica just blocks from the beach. THere were homeless all over and the streets were disgusting. THis in La where it costs a fortune to live. I would never go back. Such a shame, I don't know what happened.

How is the weather around Thanksgiving? Outdoor gathering possible? Are the employees being monitored somehow to see if they truly are not having people inside their houses? betty

As our cases rise I wish our provincial government would mandate a few rules. God bless.

Different states and countries do things differently, some are better then others and some are more like what the hell are they thinkng . I am glad I am not someone who has to make send decisions.
