What’s THAT smell?

Times sure have changed. These days, a son can tell their Mom that they will once again, be doing what they do every year at this time here in Northern California and she doesn\’t FREAK OUT.

It\’s HARVEST TIME. No, not wine grapes but California\’s biggest cash crop (legal) Marijuana. He\’s been \”trimming\” bud for 3 years now. It\’s hard work but he enjoys it and can make a little bit of money. (ALL LEGAL) You get paid by the hour and you are compensated with the product – you can cash it out or keep it.

The aroma – (or I call it STINK) smells like skunk when the plant starts flowering.  The smell can travel 1500 yards. The big Cannabis operations in Humboldt county and Trinity are regulated to grow inside with these huge indoor greenhouses to keep the stank down. In the early years of legalization, people complained. Now, there is a small whiff of it – not so bad anymore but you know it\’s not a skunk! You do get used to it.

If you had told me back in the \’60s and \’70s that one day, a person could find a job like this at the employment agency, I would have said, YOU\’RE CRAZY.

Cannabis Trimmer

It's legal there so why not make some extra money. Couldn't do the work myself but would be tempted to if I had the dexterity to do so.Betty
