A Saturday Drive

Yesterday we drove East toward Mt Lassen Volcanic National Park.
A beautiful and scenic drive – 40 minutes from our house.
Hat Creek –

The creek rises in two forks on the eastern slopes of Lassen Peak in Lassen Volcanic National Park, and flows northward through Lassen National Forest to its mouth at Lake Britton near Burney, California. Hat Creek is so named because a surveyor lost his hat there.

Lassen Peak, commonly referred to as Mount Lassen, is the southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range of the Western United States. Located in the Shasta Cascade region of Northern California, it is part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, which stretches from southwestern British Columbia to northern California.
Lassen Peak reaches an elevation of 10,457 feet (3,187 m), standing above the northern Sacramento Valley. It supports many flora and fauna among its diverse habitats, which are subject to frequent snowfall and reach high elevations.
May 22, 1915 was the last eruption.

Yes it is still an active as well as Mt Shasta to the north of us. They are active but there are no indications of any rumblings that would be cause for concern.
