Hopeful, FUNK, Bored, Blah, and Sleep.

Outside temperature yesterday

I can\’t stay away for very long or else, where would I go to vent?

Every morning I get up, hopeful. WE have our coffee on our patio by 6am. It\’s a lovely time; listening to and watching our backyard birds. They are very entertaining. I look at my yard and start getting excited at all the creative things I want to do. By the afternoon, and the heat of the day I take a mental dive -into a mild funk. I stay there till it\’s time to fix dinner. Eating has become an \”activity\” now. Which means I need to perform well.  I didn\’t go to the store so we just had a \”jump for the cupboard\” kind of meal. BLAH! No dessert either. Double BLAH! I tend to perk up a little, in the evening. Fortunately, I do sleep well.

This is every day!

I\’m BORED because I have all these things I want to do OUTSIDE but it\’s hot. I won\’t go out, because there are too many people and if I do, I go out in the very early hours to shop. I stay clear of the public on the weekends. I\’d like to take a couple days and go somewhere. But, where?

I feel sad because I am starting to believe, we will never see Pops again in the flesh unless he is on his death bed. That is the only way, they will let us in to see him. I don\’t see this covid19, going away anytime soon, to where they lift those nursing home restrictions; and rightly so. He\’s 94. He has cancer and because of covid19, UC Davis is backlogged and probably is seeing younger people, and keep pushing him to the side. My husband is going to call next week to see what the heck is going on.

Last Monday, the Veterans Home FINALLY took my advice and had a Fathers Day\” car parade for 30 minutes around the parking circle. It was fun. We decorated our van – placed a white sheet on the grill as a mask. I wish I had a better photo of it – this one I saw in another photo and snipped it.

There we are!

We enjoy a video chat with him once a week. That is not as easy as one might think. He forgets to put in his hearing aids – so we waste time, having the CNA get them, put them in and he still doesn\’t hear that well. Yesterday they put headphones on him and he could hear us much better.  Monday during the parade we dropped off a care package for him with his favorite – a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. We asked him how he liked his cake, and he didn\’t remember seeing it. So we asked a helper there and they went and checked and sure enough, it was sitting in the refrigerator untouched. That really bugged us. So we are going to talk to the Ombudsman about this. It\’s not the first time, this has happened. Since the lockdown, we have to trust, they are giving him our care packages. It seems it is 50/50. While he was talking to us, they knew they had done wrong and finally gave him some of the sugar-free jello and puddings we brought for him.  We bought that cake on Sat evening and it sat in the refrigerator for 6 days! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

My husband stays up most of the time – I don\’t know how he does that. If he started feeling like I do, we\’d be in trouble.

Navy and Sara are renting a cabin in the Trinity Mountains this weekend and we\’re taking care of their cat, Ed. At least it\’s something to do.

Debby, Breaks my heart about your dad. It seems no one has enough time to help much. My daughter works in a nursing home and has cried, because she wants to do more and they are so short of help, they don't get to have quality time with the residents. Sending hugs to all. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Gosh you are hotter than Phoenix!! That doesn't seem right! Cool idea with the Father's Day parade! Glad the nursing home decided to allow you guys to do it! I like the smile on your van! I keep wondering about these numbers with C-19. So many positive cases yet I don't see any industries closing because they don't have workers. Bars here in the Scottsdale area (because they were not social distancing like they should have) voluntarily shut down for at least a week. The talk is they did it to make sure they wouldn't lose their liquor licenses. I don't know even what to suggest you go to close to your area that wouldn't be a zoo of other people trying to escape. Everyone here heads to Prescott (90 minutes away and 5000 feet altitude) on the weekends which makes for long traffic delays on the freeway to get there. Fourth of July next week but not much celebrating for it. betty

I can understand where you are coming from. The last few days here have been much too hot to be out in the afternoon so various projects have been set aside. The days seem to flow into each other with great monotony at times. I keep busy inside with sewing and knitting projects, but eventually those will disappear. So looking forward to the boys coming home for a few days. God bless.

I do not know how you take that heat. It is supposed to be near 90 all week and I am already dreading it.It's a good thing I enjoy cooking or I would be eating PB&J every day.
