Hoping for the best

Oh boy we\’ve got some fish drama going on at our house. This morning we decided to move Spot into his aquarium to rest up. Then noticed how he seemed like he was giving up – he didn\’t like being alone so we added Sharky. I\’m telling you it was pitiful and amazing at the same time. It\’s hard to watch as Spot struggles, but then my hope is restored when I see Sharky try and help his pal. Spot does respond!

My husband fed him a couple of cooked peas. Who would have known, that peas, help fish poop? I read where many feed their fish kale, and spinach as well. Their pond food can constipate them. So maybe that is what is going on.

The other thing that could be a possibility is we saw a gray heron in our yard, sitting by the pond as if, perhaps he tried to fish out Spot, dropped him in the lower pond while fleeing the crime. My husband checked for claw marks or abrasions and found nothing.

Years ago, we had a beautiful white goldfish named Blanco. A neighborhood cat had been \”eyeing\” the pond. Foodie went outside to sit and found Blanco on a stone, outside his pond and quickly threw him back in the water. He had claw marks on him and lost a tail and looked pretty bad. He also was not able to swim upright. We had 2 other fish, around the same size as him and both those fish, helped him stay upright for days. He made it and went on to live for several more good years.

That is what we are hoping for Spot.

That is so cool, and touching, Sharkey knows a fish not moving is not good so he keeps nudging Spot. I do hope he pulls through.

Predators. Mother Nature's way of keeping things in check. Not such a great idea when it is your pet being stalked. Last year my son's dog was attacked by a coyote in their driveway. Hope your fish survives.

Sad. We've lost 2 cats to coyotes. Now my cat stays indoors, no matter what she tries to tell us!

They can eat kale and spinach too. Just a little…Goldfish can be gluttons and tend to overeat. Giving them one of the 3 veggies, relieves them, for the most part.

This is really interesting. I did not know fish would assist other fish. I do know cats will go fishing. We have some pretty keen predators living with us now. I just hope the coyotes will stay away.
