This Friday, it does seem everybody is out and about. I\’m not. Nothing much will change for me. We\’ll still be cautious and I am not ready to sit in a restaurant just yet. My favorite Mexican restaurant has opened, but every other booth is open. I do wish them well – the owner of the place was practically in tears when interviewed. It was a hard time for them. Even with take out.
We had a video chat with pops yesterday from home. He had his hearing aids in – made a BIG difference.
My husband had to give blood at the VA clinic this morning. They did everything outside in tents. He said he felt safe plus you have to remember, it\’s not crowded here – so it was manageable.
There are some things I scratch my head at.
I heard from my former Nanny mom – She is going out of her mind. She said that Silicon Valley is dead. Not many out on the major highways. Her husband works at Stanford Hospital and has been out of work for 2 months now. They are leaving California – all planned well before this virus. They are having a home built around Reno, Nevada. Their home should be ready by the end of August. She teaches Physics at the local college and it has been challenging. Many of her students have actually dropped out. No one mentions, how the students are suffering through their studies. Some need daily motivation to get up and out of the house. Others find it hard to keep on track.
My sons are out backpacking this weekend at the Yolly Bolo Middle Eel Wilderness. Good for them! Social distancing is simple out there – they park and then hike for miles and miles to their desired camp. All they see are bears, cougars, and other critters. They have never had any issues with wild animals. They both NEED this. I used to love doing this as well – but some of those trails are just too hard for me now. I don\’t want to get out there and get stuck.
I hope this finds you all well – keeping busy and staying out of trouble.
