The husband and I have our first cup of coffee in bed. Once we get up, Laydee and Susie look out the front window. They do this every morning!
I telephoned Char at 9:30. She was in bed, sleeping. She\’s starting to get down; says all she does is watch you-tube videos and play video games. She\’s single and alone. When the stay at home order went into place, she was scared. Her social worker told her, they had to help those who needed more help than she did. She said they told her, \”You\’re on your own now.\” which scared her. I understand their position but if they really told her that, they could have used a bit more tact. Someone like her, can\’t really read between the lines. Then she got worried. Once we found out that the thrift store which is funded by the county, is still paying her wages for 2 weeks, she felt better. For the developmentally disabled, they don\’t pay them what regular workers get. I don\’t get that. I think that is wrong. She puts in close to 40 hours a week but they have it structured to where it doesn\’t disqualify her from her SSDI. I have no idea, what the state decides to do past March 31.
|Char and Foodie|
Foodie told me yesterday when he called, that he was given a \”hall pass\” so that if he is stopped by police or National Guard – that it shows he works in a 24-hour medical facility. He calls it a \”hall pass.\” I don\’t know what the real name is. He felt relieved to get that! He doesn\’t drive – he bikes to work. He\’s not taking public transportation due to the virus. It takes him about 30 minutes each way but he enjoys it. He has all the gear for bad weather. I don\’t think he will ever get a car and drive. He just has this thing. (fear due to 3 auto accidents where he was hurt) Sometimes he takes Lyft.
The husband is cutting down some bushes in backyard that I am allergic to.
We took a good walk this morning. It was like 55 degrees and a very cold wind was blowing from the north.
Yesterday I tried to clean and re-organize my craft/sewing/storage room. I\’m still working on it.
|Sara and Navy|
I haven\’t heard from Sara or Patrick.
The CalVet home did report to us, that my FIL is doing much better. He even made it to movie night – a John Wayne flick.
Today we were told one 75-year-old lady, from Shasta County, died yesterday afternoon from the virus. So sad. She had traveled out of the county for her cancer treatments in Sacramento. They said, she seemed fine on Monday and then took a deadly turn yesterday. That really saddened me. To think, she was trying to fight her cancer and then falls victim to this virus.
I still haven\’t been to the store since the first day of the order. I\’m craving chocolate. I forgot to buy chocolate chips and had planned on baking cookies. Not an emergency but have yet to find anything that will satisfy my craving.

It was a happy day and then…it all came to a halt a few days later with this virus.
